*A note on insurance

I'm a private pay therapist and don't bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a superbill — a detailed receipt with all the information your insurance company needs — so you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients are surprised by how much their plan covers. It's worth a quick call to your provider to ask about your out-of-network benefits before assuming therapy isn't affordable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often will we meet, and how long are sessions?

Most clients meet weekly, and there's good reason for that rhythm — consistent sessions create the continuity and trust that allow deeper work to unfold. Each session is 50 minutes. As you make progress and your goals are met, we can talk together about what frequency makes sense going forward.

How long will I be in therapy?

It depends on what you're working through. Some people come with a specific issue and find meaningful resolution in a shorter period. Others are navigating complex trauma, long-standing relationship patterns, or questions of identity and meaning — work that unfolds over a longer time and tends to keep deepening. There's no contract or obligation. You can end therapy at any time, though ideally we'll approach that transition thoughtfully and together, as ending well is part of the process.

What happens in the first session?

The first couple of sessions are really about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what's bringing you in right now, some of the history behind it — family background, past experiences, what's worked in therapy before and what hasn't. We'll also get a feel for how well we work together. After a session or two, we'll have a much clearer sense of what approach will serve you best.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations within that window are charged at the full session rate, since the time has been reserved specifically for you. Life happens — I get it — and I always appreciate a heads up as early as possible.

What do I actually do in sessions? Do I need to prepare?

No preparation needed. In fact, one of the most valuable things you can do is arrive and simply let your thoughts and feelings lead — without organizing or editing yourself first. I'll follow what feels alive for you, slow things down when something important surfaces, and ask questions that help us get beneath the surface to what you're really experiencing. You don't have to have it figured out before you walk in.

How do I get the most out of therapy?

Show up. Consistently. The single most powerful thing you can do for yourself in this process is keep your weekly appointment — even when nothing feels particularly urgent, and especially when something does. The continuity is where the real work happens.

Do you offer online therapy in California?

Yes — I offer telehealth sessions to clients throughout California, as well as in-person sessions in Pasadena. Many clients find that online therapy works just as well for depth-oriented work, and it allows us to meet in a way that fits your life.
